Slovenian tourist destinations and companies will represent the country at the Moscow International Travel & Tourism exhibition as an attractive and safe wellness destination.
At the three-day event that started on Tuesday, Slovenia’s 120 square metres of exhibition space will feature 20 destinations and companies, with a focus on healthy water and spas.
According to a press release of the Slovenian Tourist Board (STO), the main destination in Slovenia’s presentation will be Rogaška, and visitors will not be limited to the large posters of the destination but will also be able to taste the mineral water from the area Donat Mg.
On the second day of the fair, the Slovenian embassy in Russia will host a reception for Russian tourism businesses and media.
The Russian market is one of the key European markets for Slovenian tourism.
In 2016, the number of Russian guests in Slovenia dropped by 3%, but this is actually a sign of recouperation of the Russian market, which has rebounded from double-figure drops in previous years.
In January, the number of Russian guests was 21% higher year-on-year and they generated 24% more overnight stays.
STO director Maja Pak said that Slovenia’s visibility and popularity as a tourist destination for Russian guests were growing.
She attributes this in part to the country’s clear positioning as a green, active and healthy boutique destination that offers Russian guests a high-quality individualised experience.
